Application window open for 14th Annual DoD David O. Cooke Award

Air Force officials are seeking nominations for the 14th annual Department of Defense David O. Cooke Excellence in Public Administration Award.

This award was created to promote, perpetuate and recognize the type of exceptional contributions David O. Cooke made to the federal service.

Cooke had a career that spanned more than 55 years, 45 of which were with the DoD. He was widely recognized as a public official promoting a cooperative spirit among leadership and improving operations.

This award recognizes non-managerial career civilian employees with three to 10 years of civilian federal career service as of Dec. 31, 2017. Nominees can be serving in any functional area and will be evaluated on their commitment to public service and demonstration to personal and professional integrity.

Organizations and base-level personnel must contact their major command, combatant command, field operating agency or direct reporting unit for applicable suspense dates and additional information regarding nomination procedures.

Each MAJCOM, COCOM, FOA and DRU may submit one nomination. Completed nomination packages are due to the Air Force’s Personnel Center by Feb. 9, 2018. Specific eligibility and application procedures are available via myPers on a common access card-enabled computer. Select “any” from the dropdown menu and search “Cooke.”
