Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. spoke with Gen. Li Zuocheng, China's Chief of the Joint Staff Department, by video teleconference today. The conversation focused on issues of mutual interest, to include the Joint Strategic Dialogue Mechanism, and built on the discussions initiated by the U.S. and Chinese presidents during their meeting in Beijing last year. The JSDM, which was established Aug. 15, 2017, is focused on improving crisis communication and reducing the risk of misunderstanding between the U.S. and Chinese militaries.
