The inaugural class of Air Force Junior ROTC cadets participating in the Chief of Staff of the Air Force Flight Academy Scholarship program this summer are off and flying, many already hitting their solo milestone. While Air Force Junior ROTC’s primary mission is to develop citizens of character, these 120 high school students will also earn their private pilot’s license and up to 12 college credits. For many students, this program has highlighted a career pathway that may have otherwise been unthinkable. http://www.maxwell.af.mil/News/Display/Article/1569854/junior-rotc-cadets-off-and-flying-in-chief-of-staff-of-the-air-force-flight-aca/ Air Education and Training Command HQ AF Junior ROTC United States Air Force
Air University’s Thomas N. Barnes Center for Enlisted Education elevated the rank of the Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy commandant to Command Chief Master Sergeant, June 27, as part of their goal towards revitalizing Air Force enlisted professional military education. Chief Master Sergeant. Thomas Stiles, SNCOA commandant, was joined by Chief Master Sergeant. of the Air Force Kaleth O. Wright after he officially put on the new command chief insignia last Wednesday, symbolizing his increased responsibilities. This command chief position became available as the Barnes Center for Enlisted Education (BCEE) merges three major education centers: the Enlisted Professional Military Education Instructor Course (EPMEIC), the SNCOA and the Chief's Leadership Course (CLC). Stiles was appointed as the 15th SNCOA commandant in March and will now serve as the first command chief to hold this position, overseeing 75 staff and the annual professional education of more than 2,800 students. #afsncoa #cmsaf #airforce CMSAF Kaleth O. An AU Communities of Interest feature: The Foundations of Innovation: Ideas (Part 3 of 7) Innovation starts with Ideas – the realization that something new is possible once old things are seen in new ways. Thus, it’s very important to understand how knowledge and insight are created both individually and in groups if one wishes to posture themselves to encourage successful innovations. In the American Civil War, veterans used to describe their initial baptism of fire as “seeing the elephant”. But if you’re interested in the nature of innovation, there’s another elephant that you need to see before you do anything else. An ancient Sufi parable, the story of the blind studying an elephant reveals three tremendously important insights about how we know what we think we know. #innovation #Ideas #AETC #Airforce https://community.apan.org/wg/aucoi/air-university-innovation/b/innovation-blog/posts/the-foundations-of-innovation-ideas-part-3-of-7

Its a Three-peat! The Air Force Junior ROTC team from Scripps Ranch High School, San Diego, battled it out to take home the Leadership and Academic Bowl trophy for a third time. “Our goal is to support our country,” said Col. Paul Lips, Director Air Force Junior ROTC at Air University. “But, these are high school kids and they are learning what it takes to succeed by showing hard work and dedication to a team, putting the team first, and going out there and competing.” Air Education and Training Command United States Air Force Junior ROTC #AirForce These kids worked hard for this championship, so share their success with your friends, family and coworkers. http://www.maxwell.af.mil/News/Display/Article/1564011/air-force-celebrates-three-peat-win-at-the-junior-reserve-officer-training-corp/

The Foundations of Innovation Series-Part 1 of 7. Innovation is a major theme in our organizational strategies and strategic communications in both the Department of Defense and the Department of the Air Force, and for good reason: •Our era of protracted conflict shows no sign of abating, while great power rivalries are increasingly coming to the fore •Our current plans for force structure and employment are unsustainable given our internal fiscal situation, and may not be relevant given our anticipated threats even if we can resource them •Changes in technology are driving changes in the way we socialize, and are also disrupting traditional balances of power in ways that we cannot yet grasp or adequately anticipate. #AETC #AirForce" target="_blank">https://buff.ly/2ytAWMv #AETC #AirForce</a>
