Readout of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dunford's Phone Call with Chairman of the Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff General Jeong Kyeong doo

WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Patrick S. Ryder provided the following readout:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr., spoke with the Chairman of the Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff General Jeong Kyeong doo today. 

The two leaders discussed the current security environment around the Korean Peninsula and committed to continuing close cooperation as allies. They also agreed to maintain close coordination on mutual security issues of interest and to work together to further strengthen the already robust alliance between the two countries.  

The United States - Republic of Korea alliance is a lynchpin of stability and security in Northeast Asia.
