AFRC announces Logistics unit, individual awards, Golden Derrick finalists

Air Force Reserve Command Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection Directorate has announced the 2017 Logistics Readiness unit and individual award winners and the finalists for the Golden Derrick Award.

The Unit Awards recognizes squadrons, depot units and any other major command organizations that excelled in performance and made outstanding contributions to the AF and/or DoD Logistics Readiness mission. This year’s winners, by category are:

Daedalian Maj. Gen. Warren R. Carter Logistics Effectiveness Award
: 434th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Grissom Air Reserve Base, Indiana.

Air Reserve Component (ARC) Base Logistics Activity of the Year: 94th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Dobbins ARB, Georgia.

ARC Air Transportation Activity of the Year: 39th Aerial Port Squadron, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.

The DoD Packaging Excellence and Packaging Achievement Award recognizes and honors an outstanding individual or team that contribute significantly to the packaging effort. This year's winner is the 914th Logistics Readiness Squadron Traffic Management Office, Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, New York.

The AFRC American Petroleum Institute (API) Golden Derrick recognizes the unit that has excelled in performance, effectively utilized resources to obtain training to meet assigned UTC requirements and provided outstanding mission support. This year's three finalists are:

512th Logistics Readiness Squadron Dover AFB, Delaware.
482nd LRS, Homestead ARB, Florida.
911th LRS, Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station, Pennsylvania.

The Individual Awards recognizes individuals who excelled in performance and made outstanding contributions to the AF or DoD Logistics Readiness mission. This year’s winners:

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Wendy Bizarro, 419th LRS, Hill AFB, Utah.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness NCO of the Year: Staff Sgt. Ryan M. Bator, 439th LRS, Westover ARB, Massachusetts.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Senior NCO of the Year: Senior Master Sgt. Charles F. Carlin, 439th LRS, Westover ARB.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Company Grade Office of the Year: 2nd Lt. Jeffrey W.Martin, 419th LRWS, Hill AFB.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Field Grade Officer of the Year: Maj. Ryan N. Hardeman, 908th LRS, Maxwell AFB, Alabama. 

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Civilian Category III of the Year: Trina R. Hood, 301st Mission Support Group, Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Staff Enlisted of the Year: Master Sgt. Clifton D. Kharan, Headquarters, AFRC/A4RM, Robins AFB.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Staff Civilian of the Year: Bonnie E. Bast, HQ AFRC/A4RX, Robins AFB.

The Individual Traditional Reservist Awards recognizes individuals who excelled in performance and made outstanding contributions to the AF or DoD Logistics Readiness mission. This year's winners:

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Traditional Reservist Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Sara A. Havran, 27th APS, Minneapolis-St. Paul IAP ARS, Minnesota.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Traditional Reservist NCO of the Year: Staff Sgt. Ryan M. Bator, 439th LRS, Westover AFB.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Traditional Reservist Senior NCO of the Year: Master Sgt. Jeffrey L. Szymanski, 514th LRS, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Traditional Reservist CGO of the Year: 1st Lt. Jose A. Barreto, 482nd LRS, Homestead ARB, Florida.

Outstanding Logistics Readiness Traditional Reservist FGO of the Year: Maj. Raymond H. Ng, 482nd LRS, Homestead ARB.
