The USAF Chief Master Sergeant Leadership Course (CLC), located on Maxwell-Gunter AFB, AL, consists of 165 hours of facilitated resident learning. The USAF CLC mission is to provide Chief Master Sergeants the education to bridge operational-to-strategic perspectives of the Air Force.  As a result of this Executive Level Experience (ELE), strategic-level leaders will be equipped to inspire, effectively lead, manage and mentor our present day and tomorrow’s Airmen. 

The CLC is the capstone and pinnacle level of Enlisted Professional Military Education.  To further expand on the CLCs vision and mission, the strategic-level leadership competencies provided during this ELE, will provide our new CMSgts the impenetrable foundation that is instrumental in our fly, fight, and win in the employment of air, space and cyberspace capabilities!   

The CLC course material was designed to incorporate AFMAN 36-2647 (Institutional Competency Development and Management), Joint competencies 
prescribed in the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Instruction (CJCSI 1805.1), Enlisted Professional Military Education Policy and Air University Initiatives.

Modules and Lessons

Learning Outcomes. The CLC curriculum will enhance the members Air Force Institutional Competency skill level by executing the five modules captured above.
 
Duration. The CLC is a 20-day resident course, conducted seven times per year, educating 750 Total Force CMSgt’s annually.

Eligibility. The USAF Chief Master Sergeant Leadership Course selection and scheduling for the CLC is done by AF/DPE and AFPC/DPSIT, and is driven by the CMSgt promotion release.  Selection and scheduling is done in accordance with AFI 36-2301 and the Chief Leadership Course ETCA based on grade and availability.  Air Reserve Component Members will be scheduled by NGB/HR and AFRC/A1KO respectively, per the abovementioned Instruction.
